Ridges: Sharp spikes cut effortlessly through even extremely hard crusts such as wood-fired bread.

Serrations: Recessed curved parts, in combination with the plateaus, cleanly slice through the softer bread right down to the bottom crust. They are largely protected against wear and will not need resharpening.

Plateaus: The smooth flat surfaces allow the HORL® Brotmesser to glide effortlessly through soft parts of baked goods without tearing the crumb.. These parts of the edge are simply maintained using the honing disc of a HORL® Sharpener.

High-quality steel for stability – The blade is slightly top-heavy, which makes it feel it is slicing the bread by itself. As the edge is ground on both sides it produces even slices and is equally satisfactory for right or left-handed use.

The Sandvik 12C27 steel of the blade, along with its thick spine, ensures exceptional stability. The blade is so robust, it can also be used for slicing foods other than bread (such as melons)

Simple handle with hidden ergonomics - The clean lines and elegant simplicity of the grip, with Asian-inspired hidden tang, has no rivets. Its slightly bulbous form ensures it sits perfectly in the hand.

Precision craftsmanship in every detail - The solid wood handle is handcrafted in the Black Forest. A special adhesive is used to glue the tang of the blade, ensuring an extremely strong bond.

Durable finish - The wood is oiled twice in the factory, which binds the fibres and makes it durable. The luxurious feel of the grip can be maintained for many years with regular care by. using linseed oil, walnut oil or similar wood care products.

Caring for blade

1. Attach Affix the HORL® Brotmesser to the magnetic angle support at 15°.

2. Hone one side As the blade is delivered ground to 15°, there is no need to initially establish an edge. For regular maintenance, simply hone the blade with your ceramic or stainless-steel honing disc for a few minutes.

3. Hone the other Lever the blade off one side of the angle support, turn it around and hone the other side of the edge.

4. Done As the ridges in the Triple Pro Cut could damage a HORL® Leather, we recommend cleaning the blade with a damp cloth and drying with a kitchen towel.

Note: Unlike the usual sharpening of a knife the HORL way, there is no need to sharpen the bread knife initially with a diamond disc. The edge is ground in the factory to precisely 15° and the knife is ready for use. It is only recommended after about 5 years of intensive use to sharpen with a diamond disc. No more than 30 seconds per side will restore the blade to its original sharpness. Thereafter, hone as usual.
